052707 Reading is fun...

After a while without updating,I finally found some time to add a new Jesu Interviews section to this site. It features a bunch of interviews from magazines or online features. Thanks to Kerr and Mark Watson-Jones for the precious help.
Also, the HH shop has a new section where they sell japanese imports, including some Jesu releases (Japanese editions have bonus tracks). Both Conqueror and the EP "sundown/sunrise" were also released on vinyl, and people were offered different vinyl colors. Check the following links if you're interested in those: Aurora Borealis, Southern Records, Conspiracy Records.
Jesu 'Silver (Original Beats)' taken from the Japanese only version of the 'Silver' EP is available for download free on Adult Swim.com as a part of the latest Adult Swim compilation 'Warm & Scratchy'.
Last night, FINAL played a last-minute show, opening for ISIS in Sheffield, UK.

The 2 shows of Jesu I saw in California were very good (minus the issue with the bass at the SF gig). I filmed both, and you can watch "we all faulter" from the San Francisco gig here. Thanks a lot to Joris (from Conspiracy rec.) for all his help!
I also interviewed Justin in San Luis Obispo, but the sound is not very good and I anticipate it's gonna take me a bit of time to put it down on paper (so to speak).

040207 COMING SOON...

Jesu should be in California this week, and I can't wait for both shows in San Francisco and San Luis Obispo, it should be a blast... I am also compiling the reviews, interviews, photos, videos related to this US tour that are available online, and I will work on a big update on this site once the tour is done.
Cheers.

031207 JESU HAVE PERMITS - U.S TOUR BEGINS MARCH 14TH

From Justin's online blog:
ADDENDUM, 11TH MARCH - THE U.S EMBASSY HAVE SENT OUT THE WORK PERMITS TO JESU LATE, THEY WILL NOT HAVE THEM UNTIL MON. OR TUES. GURANTEED LATEST, CONSEQUENTLY DC & PHILLY WILL NOT FEATURE JESU, FIRST JESU SHOW NOW NYC. SORRY FOR THE CONTINUED RIDICULOUSNESS.

The impending permits/visas finally cleared for Jesu this week ; the unforeseen backlog at the U.S embassy in London had somewhat reduced enabling the band to be interviewed and be issued their work permits/visas.

This means that Jesu will perform its first live show in the U.S this Wednesday, March 14th in NYC at Irving Plaza and will complete the rest of the tour with ISIS from there on in, performing at the Hydra Head Showcase at SXSW, Austin, Texas on the 15th March along the way.

Many thanks for your patience and huge apologies to those that missed Jesu at earlier shows due to these unforeseen circumstances. A Jesu headline tour of the U.S over the next 9 - 12 months will hopefully compensate somewhat, especially since Jesu now have permits/visas for 12 months !

021907 BAD NEWS REGARDING START OF U.S TOUR

We are sorry to report that Jesu are still stuck in England and will NOT be playing the Spaceland, L.A headline/release party ; work permits for Jesu have still not been cleared by U.S officials/customs and the band are not allowed into the U.S until the permits are officially cleared. The band are yet to receive a date of clearance and simply have to wait until they do so before entering the U.S, hence Jesu will not be appearing at any shows with ISIS until the permits are available and Jesu can leave England.

Please watch this space for further news ; once Jesu have their permits we will post confirmation of this and the first show that Jesu will play in the U.S.
Hopefully the band will not miss more than the first week of this tour, being the bands first tour of the U.S.

In related Jesu live line up news, Jesu bass player Diarmuid Dalton will not be playing any of the U.S dates due to being refused a work permit for the U.S for this tour.
Diarmuid has been replaced for this tour by long time collaborator (and fellow Birmingham, England native) bass player Dave Cochrane (Justin and Dave played together in Head Of David, Sweet Tooth, Ice, God and now their new project together GREY MACHINE).

Drummer Ted Parsons has also been unable to make this first Jesu U.S tour due to family commitments and has been replaced by drummer Danny Walker, a Los Angeles native who plays for many bands including Intronaut.

Thank you

021707 Try not to lose yourself...

We now have a link for the (pretty good) interview that's gonna be in the next issue of Decibel Magazine: here.

Also, rumors spread that the CD Release show of Jesu in Los Angeles is cancelled, due to problems with british customs. More info as it comes in.

021307 Medicine is all we need...

Pretty nice first update of the year (or maybe it's because I haven't been updated this page in a few months).
So first, Conqueror, long awaited 2nd Jesu album, is already out in Japan (with 2 bonus tracks that will be released elsewhere on vinyl on Aurora Borealis). The CD is going to be out in the US on Feb 20th 07, in UK & EUROPE on Feb 19th 07, and for the rest of the world on Feb 27th 07. If you can't wait until then, HH made a streaming website for you, where you can listen to the whole album track by track: www.jesuconqueror.com
Along with that, Jesu is launching is first american tour, opening on most dates for indie metallers from outer space ISIS. All the dates are posted in the "live dates" section. Japan, UK and European tours should follow. Apparently, the line-up for this US tour should be quite different, as Diarmuid Dalton and Ted Parsons won't make it here, and will be replaced by Dave Cochrane (Head of David, Sweet Tooth, Ice, God, and future Grey Machine) on bass, and american Danny Walker (Intronaut) on drums.

Jesu is also going to be on cover of the March issue of Decibel Magazine. And you can find a bunch of interesting interviews (some a bit old tho) HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE. The last one being more "recording gear" oriented. An "interviews" section should be up on this site soon. Also a couple of reviews for "Conqueror": 1 - 2

And of course, I couldn't finish an update without some new audio (courtesy of Andreas Vondran). This time, a live version, from 1990, of Godflesh's "pulp". Running time: 16min 52 sec! Enjoy.

092606 Sun down, sun rise

Small update this time, but I am sure it's going to be worth your time.
First, Graphic Designer extraordinaire Seldon Hunt (*) unveiled, on his website, the cover (*) he made for the forthcoming Jesu LP on Aurora Borealis.
"Silver" was released in Japan with 2 bonus tracks (that you can listen to on the Jesu official Myspace). Here are a couple of links for you people adventurous enough to buy the Japanese edition: amazon.jp and diwproducts (thanks Markku for the links)
Japanese band Mono (*) is going to tour England, and apparently, Final is going to open on at least 1 date. It still needs to be official but here is the date:
11/07 - @ Corporation - Sheffield, UK

So, talking about making your time worth reading this update (for people reading this far, that is), I added the 4 Final tracks from the same Jena show, still courtesy of Andreas. Enjoy.

Finally, I decided to switch the link of the Avalanche Board, in the navigation, to the new and well improved Board: www.avalanchers.co.uk . The old board URL will still be available in the links section.

090506 Tons of updates from Justin's blog!! To sum things up:
- New Jesu CD (8songs) called "conqueror" out on Hydrahead on feb. 2007, followed by a US tour, then Japan and European tours (cross your fingers on these ones).

- Limited edition 12" vinyl only EP featuring 2 new Jesu compositions entitled 'Sun Down' b/w 'Sun Rise' (18min each) out on Aurora Borealis. Only featuring Justin and Diarmuid.

- Limited edition split 12" vinyl EP with Eluvium (part two of the TRL vs. Hydra Head series. The first being the Mono/Pelican split 12"). This features 3 new Jesu compositions, recorded by Justin only.

- Justin will be a guest member on the forthcoming Sunn o))) October 2006 U.K and Ireland tour.

- Grey Machine, a new project feat. Justin and a bunch of guests (including long time collaborator Dave Cochrane). Says Justin "Expect something vicious, loose, heavy and psychedelic".

- Justin recently mixed + produced the Pelican show at the Scala (London) from December 2005. To be released as both a DVD and a limited double vinyl set. Justin will now also be mixing and producing an ISIS one off performance of 'Oceanic' in its entirety, performed in London in July 2006. Justin [with Diarmuid] as Final opened for ISIS at this event, he also guested on guitar with ISIS on the song 'Weight'...

- New official Myspace pages for both Jesu and Final.

In the previous issue of Terrorizer magazine, you probably missed a live review of Jesu, and a review of "Streetcleaner" (on the cult CD page) with comment from Justin himself. I'll try to put that online.

Finally, a brand new (and classy) board for us, punk avalanchers, at the following address: www.avalanchers.co.uk. (thanks graham and scott for the good work!)

081206 Here we are for another round! New design for the site, forget the mailing list (you guys are big enough to check the site often) and the guestbook, and some restructuration in the "bands" section. And hopefully more updates as well... Welcome back.
To celebrate the launch of version3, and thanks to our favourite flesh-head Andreas Vondran, we're hosting a full Jesu gig from the most recent tour. Get it while you can, as it's gonna be replaced soon by a gig of the same tour's opening act...
